Quality Initiative : 3.1.1

As a reputed engineering college, the college has framed and approved a robust Research Policy (uploaded in the College Website) to promote research interest and innovations in the emerging areas of science, engineering, and technology. It endeavors to create and support a research culture for enriching the professional competence of UG / PG students, research scholars, and faculty which in turn leads to the realization of the Vision and Mission of the College. Students and faculties are motivated to undertake interdisciplinary research to promote experiential learning there by build using a strong academic foundation.

The quality of research work directly explains to the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom, thereby benefiting the students, the society, and the country. The research activities nourish the academic program by enriching the knowledge of faculties in their field of expertise. This in turn helps college to stand at the global level. The strength of the research initiatives is conforming to established norms and standards for safe and ethical conduct of research. Patents were filed and a few were granted in the recent years (reflected in the additional documents).

The college had received external funds through institutional development schemes to facilitate research activities through establishment of labs such as DST - Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (FIST) Lab, AICTE - Idea Development, Evaluation & Application (IDEA) Lab, etc., All the above-mentioned labs not only focus on skill development but also facilitates research activities. 

Sponsored Research and Consultancy (SRC) Cell: SRC Cell in the college keeps a constant check on the call for the project proposals and encourages faculty members to submit proposals for government funding agencies. Research proposals shall pass through multi-tier review, where the proposal is reviewed by the Cell. The proposal is then vetted by the SRC Cell before submission to the funding agency. 

Library: The college maintains highly stacked library for research reference. The Central Library keeps increasing the book stacks. The Central Library has access to subscribed e-resources like e-books, e-ShodhSindhu, Shodhganga, NPTEL, National Digital Library and e-books. 

Web-based research: The college has conducted various webinars, workshops and FDPs to promote research in theare as of research methodology, patent, improving research visibility, etc. 

Research Centre: 

Eleven departments in the college were recognized as research centre to offer Ph.D. / M.Sc. (Engg.) by Research programs by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The college has witnessed a significant increase in research supervisors during the period between 2017 and 2022 as reflected in the graphical representation of counts below. The details of research guides and research areas are made available in the college website which aids prospective research scholars to choose their interest areas and research guides.
