About Department of Automobile Engineering
Automobile Engineering department is started in 1982. It offers a four years B.E. course in Automobile Engineering with an intake of 60 students.The program is NBA accredited thrice since 2004.More than a thousand candidates are graduated since its inception.
The department has well developed laboratories/workshops for hands on training on engines, transmission, chassis systems, vehicle diagnosis & reconditioning, electric vehicle design and CAD/CAM/CAE with latest softwares. The faculty of the department are well qualified and experienced. Faculty members have received award from various agencies such as ISTE, AICTE, KSCST etc., Also, resource persons for e-learning programs for various universities.
The department is recognized as research Centre for carrying out research leading to Ph.D./M.Sc. (Engr) degree by Visvesvaraya Technogical University, Belgavi, Karnataka state. Presently, more than 17 scholars are pursuing their research work for Ph.D./ M.Sc. (Engr.). The department has received research grants from various funding organisation like AICTE, VTU, TEQIP, KSCST, etc. Good numbers of publication are brought out by faculty and students in reputed national/ international journals. Also, their research papers are presented in national and International conferences held at various institutions across the country and abroad.
The department has also developed worthy interactions with industries like KSRTC, BENZ, BOSCH, VOLVO, BEML, TVS, MAHINDRA&MAHINDRA, L&T, JK Tyres and many other authorised Automotive service centres. The students are being sent to undergo internship/training under these organisations.
The companies like Maruti Suzuki, Volvo, Mercedes Benz, Toyota Kirloskar, BOSCH, BEL, TVS, Ford, Hyudai, Mahindra & Mahindra and Honda visited our campus in the last one decade. Graduates from the department are placed in the on/off campus placement drives to various automotive and other reputed industries. Many of them are in key position in various organisations. Apart from this, graduates from the department are getting admitted for post- graduation to numerous reputed abroad universities across the world.
