About Department of Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology)
The Department of Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology) was established at Malnad College of Engineering in the academic year 2025-26 with an intake of 60 students to develop skilled professionals for the rapidly evolving global semiconductor and chip design industry. The program is designed to nurture future-ready engineers with strong foundations in VLSI systems, semiconductor technology, embedded electronics, and intelligent hardware design. With the semiconductor industry emerging as a key driver of technological innovation, this program opens pathways to highly rewarding careers in the global electronics ecosystem. VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) technology powers the modern digital era and serves as the core of smartphones, high-performance Computing Systems, Automotive Electronics, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, IoT devices, Healthcare Equipment, Communication Systems, and Space Technology. The program provides a perfect balance of academic excellence, practical exposure, and industry-oriented learning through advanced laboratories, modern EDA tools, FPGA and ASIC design platforms, semiconductor fabrication concepts, RTL design, and embedded system development.
