VALUE ADDED COURSES

Valued-Added courses are part of the curriculum designed to provide necessary skills to increase the employability quotient and equipping the students with essential skills to succeed in life. 

Physical education is introduced as one of the value added courses in first year engineering. It is a one credit course and it is made it mandatory course. It includes activities such as Basketball, Table and Lawn Tennis, Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Physical Fitness, Yoga, etc., which have been said to inculcate important life-skills of working in a team, develop trust, effective time management, handling failure, mindfulness, follow rules in addition to the obvious health benefits. 

Every academic year, all engineering departments conduct many value added courses. They are designed to raise students' standards above and beyond the levels specified in the academic curriculum. The courses are designed based on the recent developments in the particular engineering stream.  The content of the courses are proposed by the college/industry. Normally, the period each course is minimum of 30 hours. Students of all engineering programs are encouraged to register for these courses to keep informed included about the recent developments and also  to improve students' employability.
