Wi-Fi and IT facilities

Each department in our campus is connected through a star network via OFC. Each department in our campus has a LAN connected through Extreme 1G supported switches, each and every system at the department level is connected to internet.  College campus contains 50 Wireless Access points to provide campus wide wireless internet facility, which supports 3000 concurrent users. Each wireless user is provided access through MAC based authentication. For content filtering we have Dell Sonic firewall NSA 5600.VOIP facility is also available for internal communication among faculties. 

All these facilities are administered under a centralized network control center. We have BSNL as ISP and has a network bandwidth of 750Mbps with redundant OFC facility from ISP. College has domain id mcehassan.ac.in registered under ERNET India, each and every staff is provided domain specific email id through G-suite. We have Microsoft Teams license which supports 5000 users. 

 IT Management

  • To maintain, secure and ensure legal and appropriate use of IT infrastructure on the campus. 
  • To establish the responsibilities of all IT users for protecting integrity and confidentiality of the managed and controlled information assets.
  •  To monitor infrastructural assets like computers, servers, laptops, LCDs, and projectors and information assets like data, network devices and documents.
  • MCE has a dedicated Leave Management Application for maintaining Leave Database of MCE staff hosted on AWS Cloud.

No. of Systems and their Configuration

Institution has a total of 1105 computers with the following configuration: i3 / i5Processor, 4GB / 8GB RAM, 500 GB / 1 TB HardDisk,500GB SSD, 3.41 GHz Processor clock speed and above CPU Speed, Dell R430 servers for high performance computing.

Internet Connection

Internet connection is distributed across the college through wired and Wi-Fi networks. The campus is enabled with 24x7 Wi-Fi, 750 Mbps bandwidth connectivity. Upgraded network infrastructure from 155 Mbps to 750 Mbps. 50 Wi-Fi access points have been installed in the campus to improve the Internet access; MAC based authentication is provided for secured access. The coverage of Wi-Fi is extended to all areas including classrooms, library, conference halls, cafeteria and hostels. The college internet system has been functioning with 750 Mbps (1:1) leased line connectivity provided by BSNL.

Networking Peripherals

MCE uses fibre optical networking cable with a speed of 100 / 1000 MBPS media converters and layer 2 switches like CISCO SG 500 / 350 / 300, Extreme summit x460 G2, Ruckus 1CX7150.

LCD Projectors

Upgrading of IT infrastructure is seen in teaching learning process as institute have LCD projector In all classrooms and has smart boards facilities. Laboratories are equipped with LCD projectors and screens for the implementation of smart and innovative learning methodologies. 

IT Usage Policy

*  To ensure that institution’s proprietary information stored on electronic and computing devices remains intact. It should be ensured that proprietary information is protected in accordance with Data protection Standard.

* Every user on the premises has a responsibility to promptly report the theft, loss or unauthorized disclosure of institution’s proprietary information. 

* Authorized individuals may monitor systems and network traffic at any time.

* Lower end configurations and obsolete systems are periodically replaced with high configuration systems.

IT Security Policy 

* Anti-malware software K7 is used, Dell sonic wall NSA5600 Firewalls are used to protect IT infrastructure. 

*Effective security is a team effort involving the participation and support of every IT user. 

Firewall/Security

Dell Sonic wall NSA5600 is a licenced one and it will provide high level security by filtering malicious traffic with content filtering.
