The quality of research work directly reflects on the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom, thereby benefiting the students, the society and the country. The research activities nourish the academic program by enriching the knowledge of faculties in their field of expertise. This in turn helps college to stand at the global level. The faculties of the institute regularly submit their proposals to various funding agencies such as AICTE, DST, SERB, DRDO, VGST, KSCST etc., for the grants in the areas of engineering and technology.

The college had received external funds through various schemes to facilitate research activities through the agencies. The institute has established of various labs such as DST - Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (FIST) Lab, AICTE - Idea Development, Evaluation & Application (IDEA) Lab, etc., MCE was also assisted by World bank grant, TEQIP  1.1 to 1.3. Many laboratory facilities are upgraded to the state of the art technology to support research and development.
