Department Logo Design competition

The purpose of this activity is to have a beautiful logo for Department of MCA and encourage creativity, collaboration, and a sense of ownership among MCA students by involving them in designing the logo. This initiative provides students an opportunity to showcase their creative talent, artistic and conceptual skills while designing the logo.

Ignite: Idea to Proto 3.0

ME-RIISE Foundation, in association with the Department of MCA, organized Idea to Proto 3.0 as part of the National Startup Day celebrations. The event aimed to create an innovationdriven environment that encouraged students to think critically, identify real-world problems, and develop implementable solutions.
The session was facilitated by Dr. Geetha Kiran A., CEO of ME-RIISE Foundation, served as the resource person. She began the program by presenting a structured overview of the Design Thinking framework, elaborating on its five key stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. The importance of user-centric innovation and iterative development was emphasized.

Objectives
1. To enhance design thinking and structured problem-solving capabilities among students through experiential learning.
2. To enable students to translate innovative ideas into functional prototypes within a defined time frame, thereby strengthening their entrepreneurial orientation.

Skill Transfer Session: Figma

The Department of MCA organized a Skill Transfer Session “Figma” on 29/01/2026 for MCA students. The session was delivered by Final year B.E. Computer Science students of MCE, Gagan K.S., Amith Subodh, Dhanush H.S., Kishan B. Gowda , Pratham H.R., who introduced the basic to intermediate level features of Figma and demonstrate how to create, edit, and collaborate on design projects efficiently.

Figma is a cloud-based user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design tool widely used for designing websites, mobile applications, and digital products. This session on the Figma tool helps beginners understand its interface and basic design workflow.

Role of Logic (CODE) - Case Studies

Logic plays a very important role in programming and automation systems. In modern technology, many systems work automatically by using sensors, decision-making logic, and actuators. A program uses logical conditions such as IF–ELSE statements, Boolean logic, and truth tables to control real-world devices.

This session explainshow logic is used in different real-life applications like:

  • Automatic street lights
  • Car seat belt reminder system
  • Airbag deployment system
  • Elevator automatic door system

Skill Transfer Session: Scrum

The Department of MCA organized a Skill Transfer Session “Scrum” on 05/06/2026 for MCA students. The session was delivered by Mr. Madhusudhanam M.R., who introduced scrum tool : Jira, to provide students with industry-oriented knowledge and practical exposure to Agile software development practices. 

The session focused on the Scrum framework and the use of Jira as a powerful tool for planning, tracking, and managing software development projects.

AI NEXUS Project Expo

As part of the Skill Development Activity for the course Machine Learning and Data Analytics Using Python (25MCA201), students were encouraged to develop real-life projects by applying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques. The activity aimed to provide hands-on experience in identifying real-world problems, designing AI-based solutions, and presenting working prototypes. It is organized in association with ME-RIISE Foundation.

Y2K Alumni Interaction

The Y2K Alumni Interaction was successfully organized by the Department of Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan, on Saturday, 20th December 2025, at the Alumni Hall. The event was conducted to share the experience of alumni’s journey (from college to professional) and provide guidelines to MCA students.

The Department of MCA organized an alumni Talk by Mr. Punith M on 29/04/2026 for MCA students. The session was delivered by Mr. Punith M, HPC-Engineer, Graviton Research Capital LLP. He has good work experience in different position such as Software Engineer, ATOS Global India Private India Ltd., Project Associate-I, Indian Institute of Science, Instructor, Malnad College of Engineering. He shared his valuable experience on current industry trends, essential technical and soft skills required for the industry.

Guru Vandana Ceremony– Y2K Batch

The Guru Vandana Ceremony was successfully organized by Y2K batch  students in the Department of MCA, Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan, on Saturday, 20th December 2025, at the Alumni Hall. The event was conducted to honour the faculties of department and to reconnect with the Y2K (2000) batch alumni, celebrating their journey and strengthening alumni–student–faculty relationships.
